Ristorante Osteria del Tempo Perso in Ravenna, Italy
When I think of Ravenna, I think of the eight amazing monuments inscribed in UNESCO's World Heritage List. The monuments are a selection of early Christian baptistries, basilicas and mausoleums that are scattered about in the ancient city. With a good map from the tourist office and comfortable shoes, going around the city and seeing them for yourself is an incredible experience. But what the city offers does not end there because Ravenna also has a number of good restaurants. So after a day of historical and cultural discovery, book a table at one of the city's best, Osteria del Tempo Perso, and discover another side of Ravenna.

Located at the center of the city, Osteria del Tempo Perso is very easy to access. It is just a few steps from the Basilica of San Vitale and the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia, two of the eight important monuments of the city. It was started in 2004 by business partners Massimo Serena Monghini (left in the picture above) and Sivio Piccari (right in the picture above). While Massimo takes care of the dining area, Sivio dominates the kitchen.

The chef specializes in slightly creative dishes without detaching from the traditional ones. Fish is his preferred ingredient but there are also dishes for the ones who like meat and vegetables. And if you have kids, don't worry, they can make basic kid-friendly dishes too. Every two months, the menu entries are changed for more variation. That's more reason to come back and enjoy the food.
Like the food, the wine selection and service are excellent. My lunch was a relaxed time of enjoying the culinary creations of the chef. The dishes were ample with a flair of creativity and delectable straightforward flavors. At Osteria del Tempo Perso, what you experience will leave a good lasting impression.
