Marco Lodola's Lodoland: Luci Pop in Franciacorta, Italy
Marco Lodola takes us on a magical journey of his lighted life-size artwork in the streets of Franciacorta Outlet Village for an exhibition called Lodoland: Luci Pop in Franciacorta from 16th of March until the 17th of April in collaboration with Deodato Arte of Milan (where you can buy his artwork). The external art exhibit graces the main points of the commercial center with its vibrant colors at daytime but when the sun goes down and the artworks light up, the overall effect gives a dramatic impact.

Schooled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence and
Milan, Marco Lodola defines his art alongside literature, music, film
and design. He started using plastic materials that he shapes and colors with acrylic colors through a special technique. Later on, his research led him to switching on his artwork with internal lights which actually what characterized his artwork. His artworks had been on display in diverse exhibits in Milan, Venice and Turin. In 2009, he collaborated with the city of Milan in the main square of the city, the Piazza del Duomo, a 25-piece life-size exhibit of his lighted artworks for the Rock'n'Music Planet. Over the years, he has been working on the settings of films, music shows, concerts and other events around Italy.
In the open air exhibit, Marco Lodola has chosen a beautiful line up of pin-ups and pop icons of the music world like the Beatles, the ballerina, the guitar player and many more. The lighted artworks work in an engaging visual tandem with the modern structure of the Franciacorta Outlet Village giving fashion and art an occasion to come together in a single structure.
Franciacorta Outlet Villlage was the first outlet in the Lombardia region when it opened in 2003.
It is big with more than 160 stores of both Italian and international
brands. It is about a 40-minute drive from Milan. The outlet also
provides a daily shopping shuttle that goes back and forth from Milan
(For schedules and booking: www.franciacortaoutlet.it) For
a pleasant shopping experience, a walk along its streets is a
luxuriating experience as you benefit from the fresh country air of
Franciacorta. It definitely beats shopping in enclosed airconditioned
areas anytime! Spending a portion of time in getting to know the
commercial area while following the art route of Lodoland, for me, shopping has
never been so pleasurable.
In the celebration of the inauguration of the outdoor art exhibit, a smaller scale indoor art exhibit was also organized which was opened by Marco Lodola himself. The unlit room with just his artwork providing the illumination created a really fascinating effect. Franciacorta bubbles, hors d'oeuvres, music, fashion and art - there's no better way to celebrate such an artist and his creative artworks.
