The Luxury Stars of Shedir Collection in Rome: Hotel Vilòn, Hotel Maalot and Umilitá 36
Born from the idea of Argentinian - Italian entrepreneur Edoardo Safdie, Shedir Collection continues to illuminate the capital with its collection of refined and unique five-star hotels. Shedir Collection is a luxury hotel group in Italy specializing in management and development in the hospitality industry. The name pertains to the Hebrew translation of the Cassiopeia Constellation and it is inspired by the vision of Safdie for the company: a firmament of stars, all different from from each other that form a group under the same umbrella.
In tune with the company's vision, four stars are already shining in the panorama of luxury hospitality. Three hotels are located in the heart of Rome: Hotel Vilòn, Hotel Maalot and Umiltà 36. The fourth is in Capri Island - Capri Tiberio Palace. The fifth hotel, Palazzo Roma, which is still under construction, will soon open its doors in April 2023. On top of these five hotels, Shedir Collection is planning to expand with more openings in Italy in the cities of Milan and Venice.
Each hotel is designed by important Italian studios: Hotel Vilòn by Bonfini Design; Hotel Maalot by RPM Proget; Umiltà 36 by Caberlon Caroppi Italian Touch Architects; and Capri Tiberio Palace by Gianpiero Panepinto. Claudio Ceccherelli, CEO of Shedir Collection explains, “Because our aim is to enhance the great Italian professionalism and our great aesthetic sense. Each hotel is a work in itself, a concert of very special emotions where the hotel manager can be compared to an orchestra conductor, a landlord who welcomes guests with empathy, in synergy with all the hotel staff.”
Hotel Vilòn
This hidden star of the Shedir Collection is located at Via dell'Arancio, just a few hundred meters away from the Spanish Steps, Pantheon, Piazza del Popolo and Trevi Fountain. The hotel, opened in March 2018, is inside Palazza Borghese, a historical 16th-century palace belonging to the noble Borghese family. It was referred to as the house annexed to the palace that the princes rented from the beginning of the 17th century which was then entrusted to the French nuns that was then converted into the First School for Poor Girls by Princess Adelaide.
Once you step inside after ringing the doorbell, the mood immediately transforms into an aristocratic Rome, with a vaguely cinematic flavor. It is a noble residence made of sophisticated and eclectic details harmoniously put together by cinematographer Paolo Bonfini. The creative inspiration overlaps different styles of vibrant palettes, marbles, custom-designed furniture and series of large photographs of Massimo Listri. Architect and designer Giampiero Panepinto has created spaces to which he instilled touches of whimsical creativity, of colors and patterns, mixing up references to the decadent 17th century and contemporary period. Seventeen rooms in all including three suites, all with distinctive decors and motifs and equally stylish, accommodate the guests who like to have luxury hand in hand with comfort, conviviality and elegance.
The luxurious details of Hotel Vilòn capture the eyes of every guest but Adelaide Restaurant gives another resplendent aspect of the hotel. A gastronomic point of reference, and one of the most recommended restaurants in the capital, Adelaide proves its charming novelty to the Italian gastronomy. From sumptuous breakfasts until exquisite dinners, the kitchen is directed by Executive Chef Gabriele Muro who creates dishes of Mediterranean character with focus on seasonality, an open window to international flavors and roots to the Italian tradition. Alongside him is Pastry Chef Andrea De Benedetto.

Hotel Maalot
In contrast with the
intimacy of Hotel Vilon, Hotel Maalot which opened in October 2021,
instead, is referred to as the rock star of the Shedir Group. Its
proximity to the Trevi Fountain along Via delle Muratte makes it one of
the busiest pedestrian streets in Rome. Once the home of Gaetano
Donizetti between 1828 to 1837, this place had an enchanting melodious
air pervading the walls coming from the mind of one of the most
significant Italian opera composers of all-time.
It has an eclectic soul which gives an impression of a theatrical scene with a color palette of contrasting vibrant primary colors: peacock blue and carmine velvet sofas, English green tables, black and red accents. The atmosphere is colonial British with lots of wood, fabric and jute on the walls while on the ground, the oak parquet is in a warm honey tone. Dotting the walls are the Almost Classic works of Argentinian contemporary artist Stanley Gonczanski who has created creative contemporary interpretations by whimsically adapting great masterpieces between the 16th to the 19th-centuries to the reality of modern society with his ironic art series. The hotel has 30 rooms and suites, each with particular strong colors dark blue, bright red, yellow ochre and decors of different types of wood embellished with threads of gold leaf and completed with rich patterns of fabrics, used as wallpapers, drapes and upholstery.
The format of its restaurant, Don Pasquale, overturns the typical idea of a hotel restaurant, wherein a restaurant exists to cater to the hotel. On the contrary, the concept is a restaurant with a hotel around it, because it is the heart of the hotel. The inspiration of Don Pasquale comes from Executive Chef Domenico Boschi, who has created a menu of local cuisine with a certain lightness and a full taste of Roman flavors making cod as one of his main dishes. There is the comfort food of an immediate kitchen, but there are also slight digressions of creativity always supported by a safe technique and lightness, typical of the bistrot where you can arrive at all hours. The restaurant proposes an all day dining (starting from breakfast until after dinner) even just for a dish or a sequence of whims.

Just opened in July 2022, this timeless star of the Shedir Collection is already getting a lot of attention. Located in the street of the same name, the building had been home to executive offices for a long time. It is just a two-minute walk from Hotel Maalot and just a hop away from the Trevi Fountain. It has a sophisticated atmosphere with an elegantly defined retro style. The hotel opens to the refined urban-style hall of Dandy Café, inspired by the eighteenth-century literary café, cenacle of artists, academics and men of culture, but above all by the figure of the Dandy, iconic symbol of an elegance that is not just mere appearance. Its oriental details and works of art are scattered in every corner. It draws inspiration from the atmosphere of a Roman living room from the 1950s. Adding modernity to its retro ambience, various contemporary art works grace the walls of the large hall.
Umiltà 36 offers a variety of 47 elegantly-furnished rooms, suites and apartments that are equipped with every comfort needed by its guests. The height of the ceilings has been emphasized by the use of solid wood paneling according to the authenticity of the fifties. The 17 apartments have a living room with kitchenette, ideal for long stays without sacrificing comfort and refinement. In addition, there are also two suites with a terrace overlooking the rooftops of Rome.
The gastronomic offer is enriched by El Porteño Gourmet which takes the guests to a journey through the soul and culture of Argentina. The restaurant has a maze of fascinating rooms that reverberate a vibrant atmosphere and a cuisine full of flavors, aromas textures and colors.

Palazzo Roma
In April 2023, the family of Shedir Collection will be joined by a fourth luxury hotel in Rome, the Palazzo Roma. It is located in Via del Corso, one of Rome's most popular historical roads for shopping and art that links Piazza del Popolo with Piazza Venezia. Following nearly two years of renovation, the hotel is the grand dame of the Shedir Collection featuring Versailles teak parquet, wood paneling and eclectic interiors framed by original frescoes and painted coffered ceilings. Gianpiero Panepinto is the architect who has executed the vision of mixing the grandeur of the past and the elegant unique style of a noble Italian home. There are 39 rooms and suites, creating an itinerary of themed rooms in common areas inspired by music, photography, time and worldwide travels.
