Favorita Osteria Emiliana: A Taste of Emilia in the Heart of Umbria

Situated between the rolling hills of Umbria, just a short distance from Assisi and Perugia, Favorita Food and Wine Resort offers an unforgettable blend of Emilian culinary tradition and Umbrian hospitality. The resort, managed by the Capedri family, transports the rich flavors of Emilia-Romagna into the heart of Umbria, where the love for food and warm hospitality converge in a picturesque countryside setting of Bastia Umbra. Since 2015, the Capedri family has cultivated a space where tradition and innovation meet, creating an experience that reflects the region’s essence while showcasing their Emilian roots.

Though separated by 300 kilometers, Emilia and Umbria are brought together at Favorita Osteria Emiliana, where the Capedri family offers a genuine Emilian dining experience in the heart of Umbria’s green landscapes. The menu reflects a harmonious blend of traditional Emilian recipes and the finest Umbrian produce, delivering an authentic and delicious culinary journey.

One of the highlights of the menu is the Emilia Love (€40) appetizer, a hearty selection of Emilian delights served on three boards. This sharing platter features gnocco fritto, tigelle, and a selection of Mora Romagnola cured meats, including Prosciutto Nero di Parma, Coppa Piacentina, and Mortadella Slow Food Presidia, along with homemade lard pesto, Parmigiano Reggiano, seasonal vegetables, and Squacquerone DOP cheese. This appetizer perfectly sets the stage for an authentic Emilian feast. Other appetizers range between €6 to €22.

The menu continues with signature dishes such as Tortello di pasta fresca ripieno di zucca e Parmigiano Reggiano 36 Mesi, fresh pasta filled with pumpkin and aged Parmigiano, and Tortellino filled with meat, served in a rich cream of Parmigiano. One of the standout dishes is Rosy's Lasagna, with six layers of green pasta and traditional ragù, a true testament to the family’s culinary roots. The first dishes of pasta and risotto are between €15 to €20.

Among the main courses (€18 to €26), the Guancia di manzo in umido, a slow-braised beef cheek in a Bourguignonne-style sauce, delivers deep, comforting flavors that highlight the richness of Emilian cuisine. The meal ends on a playful note with a make-your-own tiramisù, inviting diners to personalize this classic Italian dessert. Desserts are priced at €8.

Throughout the meal, wines from the resort’s extensive 500-label wine cellar, including natural wines, are thoughtfully paired to enhance the flavors of each dish. These selections reflect the family’s commitment to quality and sustainability, offering a well-rounded dining experience that captures the essence of both Emilia and Umbria.
