La Selezione: A Selection of Wines Chosen by Sommeliers
Giorgia Sinapi, Domenico Accinni, and Matteo Zappile share a deep passion for wine, particularly those produced through artisanal methods. As youthful sommeliers and dedicated wine enthusiasts, they united to create La Selezione, a venture driven by a shared vision: to elevate the wine world by curating selections from producers who embrace sustainability. Their carefully chosen collection, available for distribution in Rome, highlights small-scale producers committed to eco-sustainable practices and a respect for nature.
At the core of La Selezione is an unwavering commitment to sustainability. The organization champions environmentally responsible farming and conscientious production methods. Their mission is to ensure that every bottle of wine reflects mindful cultivation, offering exceptional quality while maintaining responsibility toward the planet.

The Tasting at Elizabeth Unique Hotel in Rome
On December 9th, 2024, La Selezione hosted a special tasting event at the Elizabeth Unique Hotel, one of Rome’s luxury boutique hotels. The event celebrated wines from passionate, small-scale producers across Italy, each sharing a deep commitment to quality and sustainability. From Calabria, Antonella Lombardo presented wines crafted from indigenous grapes such as Greco di Bianco, Mantonico, and Gaglioppo. From Piedmont, Azienda Agricola Rabel, a "Vin de Garage" producer, showcased bold and distinctive wines, including Spinoso, a classic method pas dosé sparkling wine aged for 40 months on the lees, made from Nebbiolo, Barbera, and Pelaverga. The tasting also featured the poetic wines of Nina Trinca from Zagarola, Lazio, crafted from Malvasia Puntinata, Grechetto, and a red and rosé blend of Merlot and Sangiovese Grosso.
Sicily was represented by Tenuta Valle le Ferle, whose wines come from the unique DOCG territory of Cerasuolo di Vittoria, made with the prized Frappato and Nero d'Avola grapes. These wines stand out for their authenticity, sustainability, and strong connection to their land. Although small in production, these hidden gems might otherwise go unnoticed, but thanks to La Selezione’s dedication, they can now be savored, offering a true taste of Italy’s diverse and rich wine culture.
